On June 10th 2010, Advantage Healthcare attended BABICM's* summer conference. This conference aimed to debate the practical implications of balancing the risks and rights of clients post MCA and consider the roles and responsibilities of case managers in safeguarding clients. This would be Advantage Healthcare's first BABICM event and announced their arrival into the Case Management arena. It was discovered by the attending team that all the speakers were passionate about their work and worked closely as a team regardless of the fact they all worked for different companies. The Advantage Healthcare stand was well visited and a number of good, quality leads were gained, one of which has materialised into a 24 hour per week case and another into package which would require two care professionals 24 hours a day. Commenting on the event, Matthew Craig, Primary Care Specialist says; "It was a privilege to be able to listen in on the speakers who gave a huge insight into issues such as mental capacity." Matthew was also pleased to able to pass on positive feedback from a case manager Advantage have been working with in East Anglia. They said "I have had a really positive experience with Advantage. The case has run so smoothly it's been brilliant"*BABICM - The British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers Limited

The Rochdale branch held a charity coffee morning for Bury Hospice on Friday 7th May to raise money as they want to build a new hospice in Bury as the current one has only five beds. Michelle Flynn, Branch Manager for Rochdale commented: "We have looked after a lot of clients that have been in the hospice, or the community hospital next door, through Bury PCT, who are our biggest client, and we wanted to give something back. Helping support the hospice would also be a great marketing opportunity as the local paper, Bury Times, have agreed to publish a piece in the paper if we forward a photo."The Rochdale branch had a homemade cake stall, tombola, raffle, name the teddy and guess the weight of the cake. The cake was decorated with the symbol of the hospice and was made by one of their carers - Barbara Bamford. The branch raised a whopping £475 including a £50.00 donation from their landlord!! Michelle also said: "I recruited my family to help on the day including my 86 year old grandma (The one on the picture) who ran the stalls. We had clients and workers who supported us on the day."Pictured above: Left: Chelsey Reed, Snr Branch Consultant, Middle: Michelle Flynn's grandmother, Muriel Burgess, Right: Michelle Wallis, branch Consultant.
